You may have noticed a bit of a shift on my Instagram and website these days. I’ve been photographing a lot of families, newborns and branding sessions alongside my booked weddings. It’s been bringing me so much joy. One of the reasons I love Portrait sessions, like this Studio Newborn Session on film, is because they give me the opportunity to shoot solely using old-school, analogue film. Yes, like the rolls of film your Grandfather (or great-Grandfather) used to use. Weddings are difficult to shoot on film, as the pace of a normal wedding day is just too quick (in my opinion!) and I like the speed and reliability of digital for those moments. With a Portrait session though, I can slow down a bit, and choose my shots with more intention. There’s no rush in unloading & loading film, and I love how it gives me time to connect more with my subjects. This Studio Newborn Session on film is the perfect example.
This beautiful new mother and her sweet baby girl were such a joy to photograph. Not only were they beautifully styled, with white linen and florals, but they were the absolute sweetest. Newborn sessions are quickly becoming some of my favorite moments to capture. They’re quiet, slow, and so intimate. Normally, I will photograph the family in their home in the throes of the newborn days. They’re some of the most beautiful moments and I can’t get enough!
