Since I moved to Colorado in March, I have been on the hunt for great engagement session locations. Kyle and I have explored tons of small towns, trails, national & state parks and more all over this great state. So over the next few months, I’m rounding up some of the spots I’ve found that would be great for engagement sessions. I wish I could list them all, but truly, almost everywhere I turn, I find another great location. This week, I am highlighting the top 5 urban engagement session locations in Denver!
While Colorado is famous for the Rockies and countless breathtaking outdoor landscapes, the city of Denver should definitely not be excluded from your list for potential session locations. Urban engagement sessions are some of my favorites and are especially great for couples who live in the city. Denver has some seriously beautiful architecture, both old and new, so there’s no shortage of options.
Without further ado, here are the top 5 engagement session locations in the city of Denver!
Denver’s oldest and most historic block is the perfect scene for a classic urban engagement session. The old, brick storefronts & their awnings, twinkle lights strung between the buildings, and perfectly-groomed trees lining the street make for an old world, romantic setting perfect for your engagements. The street is especially decked out around Christmas time. I remember visiting Denver in December back in 2015. It was the first street I walked down on my way to a restaurant with coworkers. I was immediately smitten. Take a look for yourself! You won’t regret choosing this spot, that’s for sure.
Built more than 150 years ago and recently restored, Union Station is an iconic Denver landmark in the heart of downtown. The architecture lends an old-world feel while the bright red ‘Union Station Travel by Train’ sign brings a fun twist to the exterior. The sheer grandeur of the edifice and its massive arched windows makes for visually stunning photographs. There’s also just something super romantic about capturing a couple’s love in front of a train station. Just think of how many couples were reunited over its 150 year history on that very sidewalk!
This location is a bit of a deviation from the previous two in the way of aesthetic. Located just north of downtown, this artsy and industrial part of town is full of old warehouses & factories covered in street art murals. When I say covered, I mean covered. There is almost no wall left un-painted in this charming Denver district. I love this setting for engagement sessions because it’s fun, light-hearted and colorful – three things every engagement should be. Couples who are drawn to the more artistic and creative aspects of life will love this setting for their engagement session.
South Pearl Street is one of Denver’s most charming & historic districts. Similar to Larimer Square, this quaint street is lined with storefronts, shops and outdoor seating but with a little more of a small town feel. A stroll down this street with coffees from the local shop in hand, would be a great way to spend an afternoon with me while we snag some photos. The neighborhood also has some of the most adorable houses in Denver that would make for the sweetest backdrops to your love story.
Just a short walk from Union Station, the Wynkoop bridge is the last engagement session location on our list. The Wynkoop bridge, like some of the other spots on the list, has a long history and is also known in town as the Cherry Creek Trail bridge. Standing in the middle of the bridge you have beautiful views up and down the Platte river and you’re surrounded on all sides by old warehouses and industrial buildings. This location exudes that rustic charm of old industry. The sharp lines of the iron beams are, in some places, covered in bright green ivy – making for a dynamic contrast of nature and industry. There’s no question this is a great stop on your urban engagement session.
